Why Do Some People Stop Working to Overcome “Failure?”

I received a question from a person on Quora earlier today regarding not feeling compelled to overcome failure anymore which concerned her because she couldn’t see how she was going to be able to build her resilience. I answered her question in this way: I do believe that you are confounding two different things here. The first is that of failure and the second is of resiliency. Failure is nothing more than trying something new and not having it come to pass in the way you imagined it in your own mind. Resiliency is the ability to bounce back from whatever challenges one may have including health problems, financial problems, as well as overcoming emotional problems, and indeed those things that we see as failures in our lives. The real question here is why it is that you have become so comfortable with the failures that you have lost your desire to improve yourself? I can come up with some reasons, but not knowing you personally or having worked with you it would just be a hypothesis at best. My guess is that you are not feeling that it is worth overcoming your failures any longer — and many times that is because one can become depressed so loses one’s motivation to do better next time around if there is a next time to work on it again. Now, if you are not feeling depressed giving yourself a ‘pass’ on doing better because it doesn’t feel worth it, my second idea here is that you are no longer doing things that are of any great interest to you. Depression can take that away from a person — it is one of the symptoms. However, one needn’t be depressed to be bored with what one is doing and in that case, it is a much simpler fix. All you need to do is to figure out what you are interested in doing and get onto learning how to do that thing. Because I can tell you as a person close to 60 years old that those who are still very youthful in being regardless of one’s age. An example would be my 90-year-old cousin who doesn’t look or act anything over 50-years-old. this is because of his ongoing research into his father’s genealogy which he has been working on for the past 50 years and still is finding relatives living and long gone forever interested in learning the history of these people. It is really those who have a curiosity about life — something that they are really interested in learning more about and creating their lives around that — for the really lucky ones they have figured out to earn their income doing just that which helps them to further understand those things they are curious about -scientists, historians, artists, etc. People who are interested in the world around them much more than ever-larger bank accounts or the sick desire to control other’s fate. So, my suggestion is for you to go deep inside yourself and figure out if you have just lost interest in life in which case I would strongly suggest getting yourself some professional help to not go further down that hole — OR to figure out if you are merely bored with your life and need to find something of enough interest to want to take the time and effort to keep improving your knowledge and your ability to do whatever it is that you found you would like to do with your life. Because, healthy people can be bored, and really bored people can become depressed. I have seen it repeatedly occur in my hypnosis practice. I actually did a Facebook article (and all my other social media) on motivation yesterday because one of my viewers on TIkTok requested I do that subject for them (don’t know the gender) because of their own lack of motivation. Here is that article for you: Today I want to speak to why we do the things we don’t want to be doing any longer and why we won’t do the things we know that we know we need to is very simple really once one understands that the unconscious/subconscious mind is the part of the mind that runs you. In NLP we are looking for these unconscious drivers so we can shift them into a better strategy for our client. You see, your unconscious mind develops these ways as a way to protect you from those things that may have been perceived by the ‘younger’ you as dangerous. However, often because these defense mechanisms are located in your subconscious mind as internal representations (the manner in which our mind encodes past experiences) the only way to shift them is to access the unconscious mind and make the shifts there. This is why those who work in hypnotism and NLP (a form of hypnotism since it also accesses the unconscious mind) are able to very quickly help the client let go of the outlived protection of the unconscious mind while forming much healthier and helpful ways to move about in the world. It really is a wonderful thing to watch unfold before one’s very eyes. So, if you are having issues that you have tried to clear using the conventional means available to you, perhaps it is time to give hypnotism a try. I can honestly say that it has helped me clear a couple of medical problems and a mental illness allowing me to do things that perhaps were seen as undoable while I had those problems. Feel free to Direct Message me here if you are finding yourself unable to do those things you really want to do and or can’t stop doing those things that you know are not in your best interest and we will set up a time to have a chat. Please include a little about your issue, your time zone, a couple of dates and times and we will set up a time for your free 45-minute Chaos to Clarity Conversation. I look forward to helping you clear this negative stuff out of your life and bring you the joy and purpose that you were meant to have in your life. Here are two other articles that I wrote which you can find here: How Do You Keep Yourself Motivated in Life?

Really, our minds are pretty complex till we realize that there is ALWAYS a ‘cause’ for what we are thinking and feeling as well as a purpose behind keeping up these thoughts and feelings even when they are not particularly useful to us currently. Thanks again for your clarification of your question for any others who will read this post.
