Beauty is Much Deeper Than Skin Deep: Authenticity Wins Every Time
Today we are going to speak about the importance of loving our authentic selves in relationship to being able to love others and have others love us.
Many people look up to those in the world of entertainment. Many of those in entertainment have had all sorts of plastic surgery done to help them to look younger this being seen as important to many to keep their careers going. The masses look up to the famous and feel that they too have to keep to the same standards. However, I have a question for you? When you think of those things that move you to feeling love for something or a person, did their physical looks matter more than what is in their heart and soul?
This situation came up with a client of mine who does indeed have a career in the world of music both writing it and performing. However, she also had this idea that the only way that she was to be loved was to have a facelift. A facelift on a beautiful face with no wrinkles, and a healthy natural glow.
There were some issues in her family of origin that brought this to bear from a very early age. However, it became obvious to her that just because someone is seen as ‘beautiful’ didn’t make them ‘beautiful’ people to be with — meaning that physical beauty had nothing to do with who they were from the soul essence which in reality is what will make any relationship worth being involved in — a person who is authentically kind, sincere, caring, and interested in others.
Because this particular client has the ability to share her authenticity through her own music she has much to give to the world at large — something much more endearing and real for the hearts of others to relate to.
So, I want you to think about this really well. Because there are many people who are getting plastic surgery and too many are actually damaging their bodies as a result of surgery that did not go as intended either with the outcome or with the sagging that happens after a period of time when one cuts into the muscles and ligaments to create the younger look. I have seen many of these botched surgeries on Youtube and it is hard to look at — especially when the person who underwent the surgery such as my client had nothing to gain from putting their body at surgical risk.
I can honestly tell you that the most endearing moments that I share with anyone would be a loving conversation, a sharing of ideas, a caring hand, or just the ability to be emotionally present. It does not matter if I am the person who is being the conduit to helping another feel seen and heard or if I am the person being seen or heard. Though being the person seeing and hearing another in this authentic fashion is much more fulfilling — the heart fills up with great feelings of love and care.
Folks, this is what living life is all about. It is about being alive and present for that which you care about and doing so in an authentic way. When one thinks back on one’s life, it is the authentically loving relationships that are going to know you had a well-lived life.
